Not every session is about coaching your own speaking. Listening mode is built for when you're on the receiving end of a conversation (attending a lecture, a talk, or a presentation) and want quiet support rather than active coaching.
What's different about it
- The coach stays quiet by default and doesn't comment on how you're speaking, since you're the listener, not the speaker.
- It only speaks up when the speaker raises something important that was left unclear, suggesting a specific follow-up question you could ask.
- Tips arrive rarely by default, since the goal is a few high-value prompts rather than constant feedback.
Start a session in listening mode
- When starting a coaching session, choose the Listening template.
- Confirm to begin, and the coach now listens quietly in the background.
- If something worth asking about comes up, a tip appears suggesting a follow-up question.
Good to know
- The live coaching score isn't shown in listening mode, since it measures your own speaking and isn't relevant when you're the one listening. See Understanding your Live-Coach Score.
- You can set Listening as your default template in Settings if you use it often. See Setting your coaching defaults.
- You can still adjust how often tips arrive; see Choosing how often you get tips.
