Adjusting microphone gain

Reading Time: about 1 min.; Last Updated: 2026-08-01 12:07:52

If a recording comes out too quiet or too loud, you can adjust the microphone gain to match the room and the conversation.

Adjust the gain

  1. Open the recording screen.
  2. Find the microphone gain slider.
  3. Drag it left to lower sensitivity (useful in loud rooms) or right to increase it (useful for quiet speakers or when the phone is farther from the conversation).

The change applies immediately, so you can fine-tune it while watching the live waveform respond.

Good to know

  • The default gain works well for most in-person meetings held at a normal conversational distance.
  • If you regularly meet in the same type of environment (large rooms, phone on the table during calls, etc.), it's worth finding a gain level that works well and remembering it for next time.

Tip

Do a quick 5-second test recording before an important meeting if you're unsure, check the waveform to confirm your voice is registering clearly before you start for real.
