# Recording and privacy preferences

A few preferences shape how recording behaves by default, so you don't have to
reconfigure them for every meeting.

## Available preferences

1. **Default audio source** : on Android, choose whether recordings capture your microphone, system audio (the other side of an online call), or both, by default. iOS always uses the microphone.
2. **Energy saver** : choose whether Meetfy automatically reduces recording quality to save battery when your device is running low, always favors battery life, or never adjusts automatically.
3. **Speaker labeling** : turn on speaker labeling if you'd like recordings processed in a way that distinguishes between different speakers.

## Change your preferences

1. Open the Settings tab.
2. Find the recording preferences.
3. Adjust the audio source, energy saver mode and speaker-labeling toggle to your liking.

## Good to know

- These are defaults you can still pick a different audio source for an individual recording from the recording screen itself.
- A visible recording indicator is always shown whenever audio is actively being recorded, regardless of your other preferences, so it's never unclear when recording is on.
- Energy saver only affects recording quality settings, not whether background recording works; see [Recording in the background](https://www.meetfy.ai/en/helpcenter/recordings/recording-in-the-background).
