# Recording a meeting

Meetfy can record the audio of your meetings so you have a full archive to revisit later, separate from live coaching.

## Start a recording

1. Open a meeting and tap Start recording, or go directly to the recording screen.
2. On Android, choose your audio source: microphone only, system audio (the other side of an online call), or both. On iOS, recording always uses the microphone.
3. Tap the record button to begin. A live waveform and a running timer show the recording is active.
4. Tap the button again to stop.

Your recording uploads automatically in the background once you stop it.

## Good to know

- Recording continues even if you switch apps or lock your screen. See [Recording in the background](https://www.meetfy.ai/en/helpcenter/recordings/recording-in-the-background).
- A visible recording indicator is always shown while a recording is active, so everyone knows a conversation is being recorded.
- You can record and run live coaching at the same time; they don't interfere with each other. See [Recording and coaching at the same time](https://www.meetfy.ai/en/helpcenter/coaching/recording-and-coaching-at-the-same-time).
- You can photograph documents or whiteboards during a recording too. See [Photographing documents during a meeting](https://www.meetfy.ai/en/helpcenter/captures/photographing-documents-during-a-meeting).

## Troubleshooting

- **Recording won't start** : Check that Meetfy has microphone permission in your device settings.
- **Upload seems stuck** : Recordings upload in the background and will resume automatically if your connection drops . No need to restart the recording.
