# Preparing for a meeting

Taking a few minutes to prepare before a meeting gives the live coach the context it needs to tailor its tips to the specific person you're talking to.

## Prepare a meeting

1. Open the meeting from your Meetings tab and tap Prepare, or start preparation for a conversation with no booking.
2. Fill in what you know about the person: their name, role, and an optional reference link.
3. Mark them as a VIP contact if relevant.
4. Add a short description of their typical behaviour or communication style.
5. Save your preparation, so you can come back and edit it anytime before the meeting.

## Good to know

- Preparation isn't limited to booked meetings. You can prepare ahead of an informal or unscheduled conversation too.
- Everything you save here is used automatically once you start coaching for this meeting and there's nothing extra to connect.
- You can also set goals, a checklist and expected objections. See [Setting goals, triggers and objections](https://www.meetfy.ai/en/helpcenter/meeting-preparations/setting-goals-triggers-and-objections).

## Tip

If you've met this person before, check [Getting prep suggestions from past meetings](https://www.meetfy.ai/en/helpcenter/meeting-preparations/getting-prep-suggestions-from-past-meetings) first. Meetfy can draft a starting point from your last conversation with them.
